PELL CITY — Traffic jammed up for about an hour at the intersection of Dr. John Haynes Drive and U.S. 231 after a local convenience store/gas station got into the Christmas spirit.

The new Shell gas station on U.S. 231 handed out 400 $20 gift cards Tuesday afternoon.

Al Headley, supervisor for Wadsworth Oil which owns the new Pell City gas station, said it was Shell Corporation’s way of saying its appreciation to Shell customers.

He said customers could use the gift cards at the pump or inside the store

“They (Shell) thought at Christmas time it would be a good thing to do,” Headley said.

The new Shell gas station is in the old BP gas station at the intersection of Dr. John Haynes Drive and U.S. 231.
