The Springville Tiger junior varsity boys upended top-seeded Ashville, 43-38, in the championship game of the St. Clair County Tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs defeated Ragland to reach the title game while Springville edged Moody.

Ragland 52, SCCHS 49

The Purple Devils advanced by beating St. Clair County, 52-49.

Leading the Purple Devils to victory was Christian Morrow with 21 points. Levi Campbell pumped in 11 points and Jaylen Brewster netted nine. Alex McClendon scored three points while Blake Jones had one.

Kartez Carr led the Saints with 22.

Ashville 50, Ragland 36

Top-seeded Ashville advanced to the title game by upending Ragland, 50-36.

The Bulldogs led 14-10 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 33-17 at halftime.

Ragland cut the lead some in the third quarter to 40-28, but that was as close as they would get as Ashville held on to win the game, 50-36. The win gave them an overall record of 16-2.

Leading the Bulldogs was Jamie Boissel, who scored 17 points. Alex Looney pumped in 10 points and Ethan Fuller netted seven. Dee Weeks totaled six points while Sam Howard and Jacob Bothwell scored three points each. D. J. Cook and Whit Burttram scored two points each.

Leading Ragland was Morrow with 14 points. Jaylen Brewster chipped in seven points while Justin Castleberry and Jacob Brewster netted five points each. Campbell scored four points and McClendon had one point.

Springville 38, Moody 35

The Tigers made the title game by edging Moody, 38-35.

Springville led 15-9 after the first quarter and 22-15 at halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, the Tigers were still on top 31-26. They went on to win the game, 38-35.

Leading Springville was Alex Conwell with nine points. Jay Lipscomb added seven points and Deondre Woody netted six. Zach Mayo scored five points while Rusty Colley and Isaiah Benson had four points each. Mitchell Swann totaled two points and Dejuan Watts had one point.

Isaac Vacheresse and TraDarrius Campbell led Moody.

Springville 43, Ashville 38

The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 43-38 to win the county crown. Ashville led 9-7 after the first quarter, but Springville surged ahead in the second quarter, 21-14, on a 14-5 run.

By the end of the third quarter, Springville held a 29-24 advantage, and went on to win, 43-38.

Leading Springville was Mayo with 13 points. Woody pumped in eight points and Lipscomb scored seven. Austin O’Neal contributed five points while Conwell netted four points. Jermell Patrick and Colley scored three each to round out the scoring.

Leading Ashville was Bothwell with 20 points. Alex Looney scored six points and D.J. Cook netted four. Fuller contributed three points while Dee Weeks, Nick Looney and Whit Burttram all had two each.

Springville’s Zach Mayo was named the tournament MVP.

Also making the All-Tournament Team included Alex Conwell, Deondre Woody and Jay Lipscomb from Springville; Jamie Boissel, Jacob Bothwell and Dee Weeks from Ashville; Christian Morrow and Jaylen Brewster from Ragland; Isaac Vacheresse and TraDarrius Campbell from Moody; and Kartez Carr from SCCHS.
