Continued work on Interstate 20 will cause more delays for travelers next week, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

According to the release, weather permitting, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks between mile markers 147 and 149 Monday-Thursday, from 7 p.m.-7:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes, for blasting.

Additionally, the outside westbound lane of I-20 will be closed between mile markers 147 and 149 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. each evening to remove loose material from the blasting.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County, between Pell City and Moody.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
