ST. CLAIR COUNTY — The project to widen Interstate 20 between Moody and Pell City will cause delays for travelers next week, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

According to a release, weather permitting, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks between mile markers 147 and 149 Monday-Thursday, from 7-7:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes, for blasting. Additionally, the outside westbound lane of I-20 will be closed between mile markers 147 and 149 from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. each evening to remove loose material from the blasting.

This work is part of the ALDOT’s “Progress 20” project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County.

A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
