PELL CITY — A Moody man was indicted by a grand jury for the capital murder of his parents.

According to court documents, Adrian Edward Glass, 24, of Moody was indicted on two counts of capital murder, one count for the murder of his father Jimmie Edward Glass, 51, and the other count for the murder of his mother Jackie Denise Glass, 49.

The Moody couple was allegedly shot to death in their home located at 842 James Taylor Road. Their bodies were discovered in July by authorities after a family member contacted police.

The younger Glass was apprehended in South Dakota and brought back to St. Clair County to face capital murder charges.

He was initially held by South Dakota authorities after his probation in connection with two 2007 misdemeanor convictions was revoked. Glass was convicted in 2007 of DUI and misapplication of property. He allegedly stole property but returned the stolen property to its rightful owner.

According to testimony at Glass’ preliminary hearing in September, the couple died of multiple gunshot wounds from a .22 caliber rifle found at the residence.

Glass lived with is parents at the time of the murders.

Authorities alleged Glass confessed to the murders and provided authorities two hand-written statements.

According to testimony by Moody Police Department Sgt. David Scott in Glass preliminary hearing and Glass’ alleged confessions, the suspect stole $500 from his mother’s purse and fled the murder scene.

Glass traveled west, stopping in Mississippi, Louisiana and then Arkansas, where he attempted to rest at the Howard Johnson’s Hotel.

“…I was up all night with headaches and sick at my stomach and every time that night I thought about the scream I believe my mom made, and it still gives me chill’s every time I think I can hear it,” Glass wrote in an alleged four-page confession to authorities.

From Arkansas, Glass traveled to Missouri and crossed Illinois. He then headed westward to St. Louis and traveled through Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming before he was detained by South Dakota State Troopers, according to his alleged written statement.

St. Clair County authorities traveled to South Dakota and brought Glass back to stand trial for the murder of his parents.

In the alleged written confession to authorities, Glass wrote he killed both his parents after a night of drinking.

“The alcohol, the sarcastic remark my mom had made, the T-shirt she had given me that said, ‘My parents said when I grow up, I could be anything so I became a ass….,’ and me being in such debt, no job, no work and not using the sense God gave me led me to commit this awful crime against my parents, my family and friends,” Glass allegedly wrote in a hand-written confession. “I robbed my aunt Donna of a sister, my Granny Glass of a son. I can only ask that one day I may receive their forgiveness…”

If convicted of capital murder, Glass could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or death.
