Bark For Life is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer.
“We are so excited about our first Bark for Life event in our area,” said Dr. Rachel Nelson, the local chairwoman. “It presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures through the mission of the American Cancer Society. We would like to invite everyone out to enjoy this fun event and support a great cause.”
She invited community residents to bring their best canine friends “for a fun-filled day starting with a walk, then continuing with demonstrations, contests, games and vendors.” Entry fees are $10 per person and $5 per canine. Participants can register the day of the event starting at 8:30 a.m. In 2009, Bark For Life canine events took place in more than 100 locations nationwide.
The actual Relay For Life event for Leeds Moody is 2 p.m.-2 a.m. May 7-8 at Moody High School.
